Interview

When did you first pick a camera?

When I was about 8 years old, on vacation in Patagonia, Argentina. Everybody in my family had a camera and I wanted one to make my photos. I chose a Kodak Cross, I think the shape of the camera struck me. I still have it.

Do you have specific influences in your work?

My influences are quite random… but the experiences, like a trip or attending a showing in a museum, are what nourish me the most.

What would you say is your signature as a photographer?

The editing has always been a constant in my work.

How did you get started?

At university while studying design I attended a course on photography and development, by then only 35mm existed, so the way of learning was a great experience.

What’s been the most surprising element of your job?

The chance to meet very talented people in my city and around the world.

Any other artistic medium you are interested to explore?

Video and sound installations.

What gets you off - literally and figuratively?

Traveling around forest/mountains areas.

You’re based out of Buenos Aires – are there certain things in the city that have influenced you? What makes Buenos Aires a special place for you?

I was born, raised and trained professionally in Buenos Aires, no doubt it’s a city that has influenced me. Nevertheless, it is not a city I enjoy as a location for photoshoot.

Film or digital?

I use both, I have no problem living with different technologies, formats or brands, I choose the better suited for each project.

If you could choose any era to work in which would it be? Why?

Late 70s, early 80s is an era I am interested in, mostly in cities like LA, NY or London… the fashion, the design, the installations, the music, the architecture, the people… making photos out of all that cultural jumble would be grand, especially in that time when there wasn’t Photoshop, Instagram nor influencers.

Who or what would be your dream subject to shoot?

More than a person, perhaps I’d like to do a shooting in a supersonic Concord plane.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

Observation.
