Red Moon by Arturo Bamboo
Arturo Bamboo is not one artist but two; Arthur Groenveld and Bamboo van Kempen, Dutch artists and partners in every sense of the word. Their dreamy photographs take on an even more otherworldly dimension in Red Moon, their third publication. What you get is quite unexpected and wholly original. Shot along the Mediterranean coast during the summer, their use of reverse-rolled color negative film serves to subvert expectations. Rather than the beautiful but well-worn trope of a glimmering aqua-blue azure coast, the images are drenched in transcendent reds and inky blacks. What you get is something more raw, beautiful and haunting in it’s unreality.
RED
Red is the color of fire and blood, it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as
passion, desire, and love. Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate,
and raises blood pressure.
MOON
The Moon is a gravity rounded astronomical body of planetary-mass , rocky silicate composition and without significant
atmosphere , hydrosphere or magnetic field . It is orbiting the planet Earth of the inner Solar System , as Earth's only natural
satellite . Its surface gravity is about a sixth of Earth's with 0.1654 g .
